Safety Manager

The Challenge:

The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of workers at a construction site. They implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses. The Safety Manager collaborates with project managers, site supervisors, and workers to promote a culture of safety and compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company guidelines.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Train and educate workers on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine the root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
  • Advise project managers and site supervisors on safety-related matters and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct safety audits and participate in external audits by regulatory agencies or clients.
  • Monitor the implementation of safety programs and initiatives and provide guidance and support to ensure compliance.
  • Stay up to date with changes in safety regulations and industry trends and communicate relevant information to the management team and workers.
  • Foster a safety-conscious culture by promoting active worker participation and engagement in safety programs.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure their compliance with safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with the human resources department to manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Assist in the selection and evaluation of safety equipment and PPE, ensuring they meet appropriate standards.
  • Development and oversee safety technicians
  • Conduct Monthly and other continued trainings

 What you’ll need to Succeed:

  • A bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Safety Supervisor or a similar role in the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction safety regulations, such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, equipment, and potential hazards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and communicate safety requirements to workers.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive safety inspections, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant safety training programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate others to prioritize safety.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
